Based on the analysis of the sales catalog of books and manuscripts belonging to Pedro de Angelis –published in 1853–, this work investigates the irradiation of his bibliographical interests and their relationship with the emergence of philology as a discipline in Latin America. On the one hand, it will be explained how all of de Angelis's work is based on the perspective of Viquian philology. On the other hand, it will be considered how the work of Alcide D'Orbigny, which is also in the catalog of his library for sale, became a reference for certain proto-philologists of the Río de la Plata, who in turn acquired the manuscripts and prints of said catalogue.
