Abstract

The urban chronicle Zanjón de la Aguada (2003) developed by the chilean writer and visual artist Pedro Lemebel, which portrays the nation in its socio-political context of dictatorship and transition, is proposed as a representative means of urban scenarios where diverse biographies converge, tightened by hegemonic and counter-hegemonic offers of subjects. Through his retrospective, an aesthetic of writing as gestation of performatic identity is promoted, resignifying the every day subordinated discourse of poverty, gender and dissident politics as a space of subversion to the dominant order.
