Abstract

This work deals with the conditions where feminist experiences unfolded in the period ranging from the late sixties to the early seventies in Argentina; it also dwells on the difficulties for tracing these genealogies. Thus, it reflects an effort to describe, through an examination of the economic, political and cultural horizons of the time, the debates surrounding the processes of becoming feminist in the Southern part of the continent, namely Argentina. Opposing the prevailing assumption of a late feminism, born in the eighties, this work searches amidst the early seventies in order to provide accounts of the dialogues between feminisms and left-wing organizations. Such dialogues need to be situated in a context infused with a sense of openness towards the possibility of radically transforming social relations, including to varying degrees socio-sexual relations. The methodology employed combines bibliographic revision of works covering the seventies, with the search and critical revision of written and oral cultural sources.
