Abstract

Teresa López led this interview with Teresa Quiroz in two sessions held on 2 and 11 May 2001. The interview is part of the Teresa López Vásquez Collection, which was formed from a donation made by her family to Gabriela Rubilar, Principal Investigator of the ANID/Conicyt/FONDECYT Project 1230605, and later donated to the Department of Social Work at the University of Chile through a formal donation signed on 28 January 2025. We are grateful to both institutions for granting access to this unpublished material. The published text is a verbatim transcription of the interview, including footnotes added by Teresa López following the review of the transcript by the interviewee. Minor edits have been made for publication in the journal, which have been indicated using [square brackets].

Author Biographies

Teresa López

Teresa López Vásquez was an important figure in Chilean social work. She graduated from the Dr. Alejandro del Río School of Social Service in 1962, developing a career that spanned multiple academic areas, occupying administrative roles and working in different branches of the University of Chile, including her work as Secretary General at the Osorno branch of the University of Chile and Deputy Vice-Rector on three occasions between 1970 and 1972.Teresa López passed away in November 2023.

Teresa Quiroz

Teresa Quiróz was an important researcher and academic in Social Work. Throughout her career, she collaborated as an academic at various universities and  was a fundamental part of CELATS (Latin American Centre for Social Work). She is one of the most relevant figures in Chilean and Latin American social work.Teresa Quiroz passed away in August 2019.

Gabriela Rubilar, Universidad de Chile

Professor at the University of Chile, she is currently an academic at the Department of Social Work of the Faculty of Social Sciences, linked to the Interdisciplinary Studies Centre in Social Work.
