Biopolitical Programming of the Federal Capital during Argentina's Last Civilian-Military Dictatorship (1976-1983)

Authors

Abstract

This article analyses the biopolitical programming of the Federal Capital during the last civil-military dictatorship in Argentina (1976-1983). Specifically, we will focus the reading on a series of documents that are fundamental to unravel the way in which the urban redesign of the capital city was problematized under the management of Brigadier Osvaldo Cacciatore. Therefore, we will seek to reconstruct how the control of the "monstrous" is problematised in this programming of urban space. We will then examine the way in which the practice of environmental government is rationalized through which it seeks to "purge" the city. Within this context, we will examine the constitution of merit as a citizenship charter.
