An Imagined Museum. The Chilean Experience of Mario Pedrosa

Authors

Abstract

This article intends to reflect on the Solidarity Museum project carried out by the Brazilian critic Mario Pedrosa within the framework of the Popular Unity government of Salvador Allende. Two central hypotheses will be proposed, the first has to do with the meanings that the Popular Unity project in general and the Solidarity Museum in particular could have had for Mario Pedrosa; the second, closely related to the first, is what significance a project such as the Museo de la Solidaridad could have had for the cultural policies of a government such as that of Unidad Popular.
