Abstract

This study aims to analyze Roberto Bolaño’s (Chile 1953-Spain 2003) narrative work in its relationship with cinema. With this objective, the thematic and formal approaches between his work and cinematographic theory are considered. Here cinema is understood as an artistic and cultural component which echoed in literature when writers began to be interested in this form of art. This study covers different references to the cinematic imagery that are constant on Roberto Bolaño’s short stories and novels and seeks to analyze some formal cinema resources appropriated by the author’s literature, which he emphasizes in his work with time, image and through the fragmentation of his writing, elements so important to modernity.
